Meaning of 粉末 in Japanese

Powders of aluminium, magnesium, silicon, etc. explode.

I tried this and that, blending yellow with white powders and obtaining brown, mixing crystals with powders and getting dust, combining liquids with solids and making mud.

It came in a handsome wooden box and contained a rack for test tubes, glass bottles of powerful powders, a little packet of sensitive paper (litmus, I think), a glass rod, the manual and suitably exciting poison labels.
