Meaning of 敬 in Japanese

彼女はけっして美人ではないが、何とも言えない愛敬がある。
She is not at all a beauty, but she has an unspeakable charm.

私たちその話を聞いたとき、畏敬の念に打たれてしまった。
We were awed into silence when we heard the story.
